Although most of the news coming out of Los Angeles right now is somber, there have also been a few soul-stirring stories.
Locals have been navigating nightmarish sights since the flames, which have killed 24 people, erupted on January 7.
The ongoing fires have destroyed entire communities and cost some celebrities their homes.
Despite the tragedy, we’ve witnessed some heartwarming acts of human generosity, such as NBC reporter Robert Kovacik possessing a man’s prized paintings while he escaped.
Communities have united to assist those in need, with individuals contributing over $800,000 to help a local sports hero rebuild his life after he ‘lost everything’.
Today, a video of a pet owner returning home went viral on X, causing people to grieve once again.
Casey Colvin had been anxiously attempting to return to his house in the Palisades, one of the most severely impacted neighborhoods, to locate his two dogs.
He was not on the property when evacuations began, but his pet animals, Oreo and Tika Tika Tika, remained inside.
The American guy was spotted sobbing as he chatted with NBC News journalist Liz Kreutz, detailing how he was striving to overcome obstacles.
Colvin told the reporter through tears, “I truly saved them [the dogs] off the street; they deserve more than this. “How can I get to my house?”
In an Instagram post outlining his situation, Kreutz stated that a brave firefighter witnessed their emotional interaction and ‘came to help,’ volunteering to search Colvin’s home for his pets.
“At that time, Casey’s home had not burned, and shortly after, the firefighter returned to the staging area with Tika Tika Tika,” according to the reporter.

“We were there as Casey reunited with his sweet girl,” she told me. “But Oreo, a rescue who Casey says is behavioral, apparently ran out of the house and is now missing.”
Hours later, as Colvin’s property “burned to the ground,” the firefighter’s heroic actions prevented both dogs from becoming “stuck inside.”
Colvin spent five torturous days scouring his charred area and putting up posters in his desperate hunt for tiny Oreo.
Fortunately, a passerby discovered the puppy tucked among his property’s trash and rubble, and the owner ran over to get the dog.
A heartfelt video shows a relieved Colvin calling out to an understandably nervous Oreo from the edge of his fire-ravaged home.
“Oh my gosh, you are alive! You are alive! “Thank you, God,” the pet owner said, grabbing the animal into his arms and punching his fist in the air before thanking Kreutz.

The reporter later posted the clip online, referring to Colvin and Oreo’s reunion as ‘the finest news’.
Social media users unanimously agreed, praising both the owner’s fortitude and the animal’s endurance in such awful circumstances.
One commented, “Awwwwww, such a wonderful time.” I’m glad they were able to reunite.”
Another person remarked, “If it were my dog, I would be right there with him, completely out of control and bawling my eyes out. I am so thrilled for this man and his little puppy!”
A third individual remarked, “This could potentially be the linchpin that stabilizes someone’s life following such a devastating loss.” My heart is overjoyed for this man I don’t even know. That dog overcame the unthinkable and ran right to Dad.”
