The worship leader’s daughter, 18-year-old DJ Johnson, had the once-in-a-lifetime chance to perform on American Idol, and her rendition of the song “Scars” moved the judges to tears.

The sixth kid in a family of ten, DJ Johnson shared with the judges and viewers across how her mother left them just a year ago.
She sang her song “Scars,” which she wrote to express the suffering she has gone through since her mother left them.
DJ has always had a deep love for music, so it was clear that she was upset when she talked about how her mother had made fun of her because of it.

In the American Idol studio, DJ played the piano and sang, but she stopped halfway through the song because her emotions got the better of her. Before she finished her audition, Lionel offered her a handkerchief and had her father embrace her while the judges stepped in to help her relax.
Katy Perry told Luke that DJ Johnson needed to finish the song, so she gathered herself and began singing “Scars” when he asked if she wanted to perform another song.
As DJ Johnson performed, Katy Perry was seen crying. The judges complimented her for saying, “Some of the greatest artists become artists because they have had the most pain in their life,” as she wiped away her own tears. “If you are able to turn that sorrow into a goal.” Continue to be courageous.
All three judges gave the young lady a “yes,” and she advanced to the competition’s next round.
